Andrew Clappison

Communications Manager

Background

Andrew joined CommsConsult in June 2009 having previously worked at the Centre for Rural Policy Research, University of Exeter. His research there focused on rural governance and community participation. This reflected an existing interest developed during his PhD. The opportunity to join CommsConsult provided him the chance to apply this thinking on participation and governance to a new field. It comes as no surprise that he is specifically interested in participatory forms of communication and the strategic use of governance and social networks to spread key messages.

Having come from an academic background Andrew provides an important entry point for us when we develop communication services for academics and the research community. He is leading our thinking on how academic researchers can play a more active role in communicating their research, and getting it into use through policy and practice.
