Our Vision is of a world where communication plays a central and strategic role in all development practice. We empower people at all levels to find their voice, to communicate clearly, to maximise their impact and to evidence their value.

CommsConsult was set up in 1995 in Zimbabwe by Megan Lloyd-Laney and Farai Samhungu.

Their mission statement was ‘to communicate clearly in a world full of noise’, and they took the message to clients that included the UN, NGOs and community groups. They wanted to learn how to make communication really work for development: not as an ‘add-on’ to development programmes, but as a fundamental strategic instrument.

For fourteen years Megan and Farai used their extensive experience and enthusiasm, working alongside a network of professionals, to help organisations and researchers achieve their potential through effective communication.

Then in 2009 the company entered an exciting growth spurt. Over the next five years CommsConsult grew to become a team of specialist consultants who were all committed to the core values of Megan and Farai’s original mission.

Today, alongside the directors, the CommsConsult team comprises Nyasha Musandu, Betty Paton, Laurie Huggett and Laura ffrench-Constant as well as a wider network of social media experts, writers, facilitators and M&E specialists. Centred around four business units- Training; Strategic Communication; Editorial; and Monitoring and Evaluation- the team take a collaborative and innovative approach to solving modern development challenges through communication.

So at over twenty years old CommsConsult continues to grow and look forward. We are still committed to our mission and all strongly believe in the power of communication to bring about positive social change worldwide.
