CommsConsult was contracted by the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) Norway to conduct a half day Introduction to Research Communication Workshop on the 16th of October 2015.

The workshop was designed to whet the appetite of researchers to better utilise some communication tools and embed these in their everyday working practices. Similarly, the workshop was also aimed at communication and administration staff to provide a template for better institutional working practices that involve all members of the CMI staff working together to improve the visibility and impact of the research emanating from CMI.

The workshop was attended by CMI researchers, communication and administration staff. The half day workshop was designed in collaboration with the CMI Communication team. The workshop included a Q&A panel led by Katy Harris and Peter Newborne, an ODI Communications Manager and Research Associate respectively, exploring the role of communication throughout the research cycle. This was followed by a practical tools sessions where participants were split into three groups of choice to learn how to use two communication tools.
